We will be undertaking works to complete the upgrade of the level crossing on Plessey Road, ahead of the reopening of the line to passenger trains later this year.
The works will be undertaken from 6am until 10pm on Sunday 7 July in the area shown below.
During the works, there may be some localised disruption due to noise, however we will limit this where possible, including by turning equipment off when not in use.
We need to close Plessey Road at the level crossing for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians during the works to allow for the works to be completed safely. A diversionary route, which has been agreed with the council, will be in place for vehicles.
The X10 and X11 bus services will also be using a diversion route during the closure. A free shuttle bus will run from Blyth Bus Station to New Delaval/Newcastle Road Co-op via Princess Louise Road, Newsham Road, Druridge Drive loop, Wharton Street, Winship Street, Carr Street, Plessey Road, Rotary Way, South Newsham Road and Newcastle Road. The timetable is shown below;
We understand that working near your homes is far from ideal and we are sorry in advance for any disruption these essential works may cause. Our teams have been briefed and will be mindful when carrying out this work, making sure all the relevant mitigations are in place to avoid excess noise.
