In order to install traffic management required to carry out works to the West Roundabout safely, a full overnight road closure is required on South Newsham Road on Sunday 3 November 2024 from 8:00 pm to Monday 4 November 2024 at 6:00 am. During this period, please follow the diversion route shown below. Please note advance notice signs will be in place ahead of the closure.
Once traffic management is installed, works will continue on night shift from Monday 4th November – Friday 8th November 10:00 pm – 6:00 am to install new lighting columns and signage.
In addition to these overnight closures, we will also be undertaking drainage survey work adjacent to Crayford Street on the evening of Monday 28 October 2024 between the hours of 7:00 pm until 6:00 am.
During this period, traffic management will be in place in the form of temporary traffic lights. This is to allow the team to safely undertake works. Access to properties will be maintained at all times.
What to expect during these works
During this work, there is potential for some impact on people living and working close by, however every effort will be taken to limit this where practically possible.
Any noise arising from the works will be within the legal levels under UK law and every effort to keep noise, dust, and vibration, is limited as possible although some level of disturbance is to be expected.
Please note that pedestrian diversions will be in place during these works but full access routes will be maintained throughout the works.
Can someone please tell us when the work on the A1061 is going to end? Couldn't the traffic jams be alleviated by temporarily reopening the original route (now a bus lane) until the work is complete? Also, it's 10th November now, if the line is still opening in December how come an opening date has not been announced yet? Is it delayed yet again?
Is there any professional project management of this project? If so, what mitigation has been undertaken to prevent further delays to the reopening of the line?
Lots of questions, but in my view, the public are sick of slow progress and no answers!
