The A189 between the Three Horseshoes and Kitty Brewster roundabouts will be closed between 8pm and 6am every night between Monday 2 September and Saturday 7 September 2024, and again from Monday 9 September and Saturday 14 September 2024.
These overnight closures have now been extended for another two weeks from Monday 16 September to Saturday 21 September and also from Monday 23 September to Saturday 28th September 2024.
The laybys between the two roundabouts will also be closed 24/7 from 2 September for the duration of this phase of works.
Diversion route
During this closure, traffic will be diverted along the A193 and B1505 (Horton Road).
We will be monitoring the traffic volumes and, if necessary, will install three-way traffic lights at the junction of Horton Road and Bebside Road to manage congestion. This would be staffed whenever in use.
We do appreciate the impacts that this will have on local residents and businesses on this route, and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience this will cause. The teams will be working around the clock to get this work done as quickly and safely as possible and allow the A189 to be reopened.
