Overnight Track Work at Bedlington & Ashington

Network Rail will be carrying out overnight track maintenance work in the Bedlington and Ashington areas in week commencing Monday 27th January.

Works at Bedlington will take place from 10pm on Monday 27th January until 6am on Tuesday 28th January and then again from 10pm on Tuesday 28th January until 6am on Wednesday 29th January. The works will be taking place between Bedlington Station and Barrington Road Level Crossing.

Works at Ashington will take place from 10pm on Wednesday 28th January until 6am on Thursday 29th January and then again from 10pm on Thursday 29th January until 6am on Friday 30th January. The works will be taking place between Ashington Station and Woodhorn.

We understand that working near homes overnight is far from ideal and Network Rail are sorry in advance for any disruption this may cause. However, the work is essential, and the team need to undertake the work at night as it is the safest time for the team to access the railway, due to the low numbers of trains that run at this time.

To complete the work, the team will be using on track machinery, small hand tools, lighting, and generators. The equipment they use means some disturbance is unavoidable, but they will make every effort to minimise any unnecessary noise. Those working on site are briefed on working responsibly in the local community.
