Overnight Works at Bedlington

We have an update about upcoming midweek and weekend overnight working on the construction of the new station at Bedlington.

The current phase of work is to prepare the site for the installation of the platform, which will take place later this year. To carry out these works safely, we will need to work during the day and overnight, through the week and on weekends.

Midweek and weekend overnight working

The next phase of work includes activities that must be done when trains are not running on the line. We will be carrying out work on the following dates and times:

• From 00.00am on Sunday 20 October to 5.30am on Monday 21 October.

• From 00.00am on Sunday 27 October to 5.30am on Monday 28 October.

• From 00.00am on Sunday 3 November to 5.30am on Monday 4 November.

• From 00.00am on Saturday 9 November to 5.30am on Monday 11 November.

• From 00.00am on Saturday 16 November to 5.30am on Monday 18 November.

• From 00.00am on Saturday 23 November to 5.30am on Monday 25 November.

• From 00.00am on Sunday 1 December to 5.30am on Monday 2 December.

• From 00.00am on Sunday 8 December to 5.30am on Monday 9 December.

Please note, we may also need to carry out additional works outside of the hours listed above, however we are not anticipating this being a regular occurrence.

Where required, these would be from 11pm to 5.30am, on a Monday or a Friday.

If you wish to be updated directly about the type of work taking place, and any additional overnight work, please contact rail@northumberland.gov.uk or call the Northumberland County Council contact centre on 0345 600 6400 and provide us with an email address.

What to expect during the works

During this work there is potential for noise, site lighting and vibration, but we will aim to keep disruption as minimal as practically possible and within the terms agreed with Northumberland County Council. We have continuous noise monitoring equipment installed onsite to capture in real-time the noise levels being generated.

We understand that working near your property and working at weekends and overnight is far from ideal, and we apologise in advance for any disruption these works may cause. The continuous access to the track for longer periods of time enables us to complete this essential phase of works as quickly as possible.
