As we get closer to passenger trains returning to the Northumberland Line, let's talk about Pop.
Customers will have a choice when it comes to fares of buying tickets for rail travel or buying tickets that will be valid on the Tyne & Wear Metro as well as Northumberland Line trains.
If you want to travel on the Tyne & Wear Metro as well as the Northumberland Line, you'll need to apply for a Pop card.
There are different types of Pop card available, with Pay As You Go or Season Ticket cards for adults and Pop Blue cards for young people. Applying for a card is easy and the cards are free but you will need to add a £5 balance to your account. Click here for more information.
Using Pop will be simple on the Northumberland Line as there will be Pop card readers on all the new stations to match the readers that are already at all Metro stations. All you need to do is tap in at the start of your journey and then tap out at the end of your journey. If you've got a season ticket, your journey will be recorded and if you've got a Pay As You Go card, your journey will also be recorded and if you make any further journeys, they'll also be recorded so that you pay the best value fare for your travel.
Here's a useful video to help you along the way;
Once you've got your Pop card, it can be topped up online or at a Metro ticket machine.
