As well as restoring passenger services to the Northumberland Line, some members of the team from across the project have been helping to re-lay track at the Woodhorn Narrow Gauge Railway.
The Northumberland Line project have now held two days of volunteering at the narrow gauge railway in Ashington with volunteers from AECOM, SLC Rail, Network Rail and Northumberland County Council working together on their volunteer days to help the railway renew part of their track bed.
This involved removing the old track, sleepers and ballast before then laying new ballast and sleepers before replacing the rails and gauging them so that the trains can run smoothly along the track.
It's hard work and the teams worked well together to learn some new skills and support a project that's very close to the Northumberland Line.
