Currently, Northern Power Grid (NPG) have temporary traffic management in place on Front Street to carry out their works. We understand that these works are anticipated to complete mid-November 2024.
Following the completion of NPG works, we will be installing temporary traffic management, in the form of multi-phase traffic signals, on Front Street. The highways upgrade works will be completed in phases, with the traffic management positioned in different sections within the area depicted in the red line in the image below. Signed pedestrian diversions will be in place where required. This is essential to maintain access and to protect public and staff during these works.
What to expect
This may potentially cause some short delays for traffic entering and exiting Heather Lea, Errington Street and Bebside Furnace Road and we apologise for any disruption this may cause. The temporary traffic lights will be monitored by the Traffic Management contractor. Any noise and local disruption will be kept as minimal as practically possible, and any significant changes to the duration of this programme or shift timings will be updated in further communications. Bebside highways works are programmed to be undertaken from now until the end of the project. Future phases of highways works on Front Street, Errington Street and Bebside Furnace Road will be communicated as works progress.
