Heading to Newcastle United's Carabao Cup celebrations this Saturday ?

Trains on the Northumberland Line are expected to be very busy all day and whilst Northern are hoping to have additional capacity on some services, this isn't guaranteed.

Our advice is to leave plenty of time for your journey, expect trains to be busy and follow the instructions of Northern's staff - they're there to help customers and keep everyone safe.

We'd encourage you to either walk, cycle or catch the bus to your local station as car parks will be busy on the day and please consider local residents if car parks become full. Additional car parking will be available at Blyth Town FC on Sandringham Drive (NE24 3PS) for Newsham station. Chanting of "He's from Blyth" is optional as you walk to the station.

There are also engineering works later on Saturday evening and the 21.16 and 22.16 departures from Newcastle will be a bus replacement service. Northern have added additional buses and some standby provision for these late evening journeys.

The train service is very much welcomed fantastic thing to have instead of the Bus

BUT and this is the crux BUT !!

On Saturday the service was strained beyond belief utterly !

The train company should have known thousands would be travelling from out laying areas to travel.... what was it two coaches. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS !

UK at its best..... inept at reading situations..... so glad later they put 6 coaches on for the evening.

Next time i come up to blyth i will use the train but please read whats going on and react accordingly.

Please be sensible and put extra carriages on as it will be a well tended event.Dont spoil peoples day by not having enough room for fans and making them late or well out ov pocket by having to arrange other ways ov transport.I have hope yous will do the right thing and put extra carriages on to make everyone's day a memorable one.

Surely if you know it is going to be busy all day. Then put on two extra carriages every time. I went last Sunday to the ladies match from Seaton delaval but couldn't get on as there was only two carriages. There were about 100 people who were not allowed on the train. Disgusted. I ended up having to get an uber taxi. I have a car but didn't want the hassle of trying to get parked in the TOON. Come on use your noggin. Put more carriages on for the day. You know it makes sense. Thank you. I will wait and see what happens Saturday.
