Weekend & Overnight Works at Bedlington

The next phase of works for the platform on Park Terrace/Ravensworth Street side of the station will commence from Friday 20 September at 11:00 pm and finishing on Monday 23 September at 5:30 am.

Works will be undertaken continuously during this time.

Works will then progress on night shifts only from 11:30 pm – 5:30 am, Monday – Thursday. The works will include:

·        Removal of the water filled barrier on the old platform.

·        Excavation of trial holes to locate potential buried utility pipes and cables.

·        Creation of an access way into the trackside area.

·        Excavations to remove old platform materials.

What to expect during these works

We do appreciate that working near your property overnight is far from ideal and we are sorry for any disruption this may cause. Due to the proximity of the works to the railway, this work must be completed not just during the day, but also overnight and on weekends when the line is closed to trains.

During this work, there is potential for some impact on people living close by, however every effort will be taken to limit this where practically possible. Heavy compacting machinery including excavators and dumpers will need to be used to complete the works during this period however, we will aim to keep noise and vibration to a minimum where practically possible. Any noise arising from the works will be within limits agreed with Northumberland County Council and we will make every effort to keep noise, dust, and vibration as limited as possible, although some level of disturbance is to be expected.

How come it's Bedlington and Bebside that are delayed, two consecutive stations that are in the middle. So people in Bedlington and Bebside have to either go all the way up to Ashington or all the way to Newsham. As always the least prioritised!
